About
Aliyah Clay is a professional dance and teaching artist from Newark, Delaware. Aliyah is a company artist with Philadanco under Joan Myers Brown and a Waheedworks collaborator under Tommie-Waheed Evans. She is a graduate of the University of the Arts where she received a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield with a minor in Business in December 2022. Her training began at Christina Cultural Arts Center under Dara J. Meredith and Dance4Life School of The Arts and Training Institute under Chauntee D. Andrews. While training, Aliyah has become well versed in ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, jazz, tap, improvisation, dunham and umfundalai. During her collegiate training, Aliyah has worked closely with many prominent artists including Christine Cox, Dwight Rhoden, Helen Pickett, Mark Caserta, Jennifer Archibald, Kim Bears-Bailey, Courtney Henry, Debra Austin and Milton Myers. She has also taught classes and privates in ballet, modern, and contemporary. While at UArts, she received her pilates mat certification. She is a vessel embracing all of the endless possibilities within herself and others. Aliyah believes in multiplicity and versatility, therefore she aims to work within multiple mediums while finding ways to blend them.
